Aviation Fuel Club resonates among pilots
Since launching the Aviation Fuel Club in late January, pilots, airport and FBO managers, aircraft manufacturers, flying clubs and flight schools across the country have endorsed the concept of a grassroots organization aimed at making sport aviation more affordable through better options in aviation fuel. Sponsored by aviation fuel station pioneer U-Fuel
of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, the "AFC" has already helped dozens of you who operate from small grass airstrips to major airports. We've received many comments supporting the AFC, for instance this one from Mark German, a sport aviator from Forest Lake, MN:
"Thanks for the effort your organization is doing to support sport pilots; finding gas for our aircraft is getting harder all the time. Stopping at the gas station and filling up 5-gal cans is a pain. We have been going to the airport meetings and talking to the airport council about getting autogas installed and it seems like we have their interest so far. What can we do to take this to the next step? I like the 90+ gas no ethanol. If we can show the city a good business plan/profitable I think its doable."
The founders of the AFC, which include specialists in aviation fuel, fuel equipment, and general aviation aircraft, have helped Mark and others find suppliers of ethanol-free autogas and affordable storage equipment, which in some cases has been a surplus fuel trailer or truck. While the Club has only existed for a few weeks, we'll be announcing soon the return of autogas to airports where it has not been available for many years, including in California, where ethanol-free fuel disappeared entirely years ago. Thank you for your support of the AFC, and spread the word!

U-Fuel Announces Sport Fuel Program
U-Fuel of Elk Mound, WI, a pioneer of self-service aviation fuel stations, announces the Sport Fuel Program
to expand the use of autogas in general aviation. An outgrowth of the Aviation Fuel Club sponsored by the company and announced at the 2011 Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, the program assists airports, FBOs, flight schools, flying clubs and others searching for 91+ octane, ethanol-free autogas. Pilots buying fuel under the Sport Fuel brand can be assured that they are using high-quality ethanol-free fuel stored in aviation grade equipment. 70%-80% of all legacy piston aircraft, and essentially 100% of new LSAs operate well on fuel sold under the Sport Fuel brand. Not only does the use of Sport Fuel lower the cost of flying, but it reduces lead emissions from GA aircraft, a major public relations issue at some airports. As a side benefit, Sport Fuel dealers could potentially sell significant quantities to others seeking ethanol-free fuel, for instance those who own boats, ATVs,
snowmobiles, power tools, emergency power generators, farm equipment, etc. Along with the Sport Fuel program, U-Fuel has introduced a new line of affordable, pre-engineered self-service fuel stations available in capacities starting at 1,500g and costing under $50,000.

Need an autogas STC?
The founders of the Aviation Fuel Club are fortunate to have Todd Petersen on their team. A former crop duster from Minden, Nebraska, Todd is owner of Petersen Aviation
, best known as the owner of autogas STCs for over a hundred different aircraft. Since developing their first STC's for radial-engine powered crop dusters in the 1980s, Petersen Aviation has sold some 35,000 STCs for everything from Piper Cubs to Stearmans to DC-3s and many singles from Beech, Cessna and Piper. Obtaining a new STC from the FAA involves exhaustive testing on the ground and in the air, for which Petersen Aviation has developed proprietary equipment and procedures over the past thirty years to assure safe operation of aircraft on autogas. Pilots with a Petersen autogas STC for their aircraft and Sport Fuel
in their tanks benefit from the knowledge that they are using autogas in a safe and legal manner.
