ExxonMobil departs GA
Oil giant ExxonMobil quietly left the General Aviation industry last month, according to this article in AINonline. As described in another recent article in General Aviation News
, leaded avgas production has been in decline by around 4% annually in recent years, therefore ExxonMobil's announcement is not too surprising. Fewer suppliers of avgas may however lead to increased prices for pilots, coming at a time when General Aviation is under pressure from all sides. On a positive note, the directors of the Aviation Fuel Club recently advised a major avgas supplier in the Southwest that is considering adding autogas to its product offerings to airports.

AEF FINANCES Fuel Equipment
U-Fuel, sponsor of the Aviation Fuel Club, has begun working with American Equipment Finance
(AEF) to provide airports with alternative means to acquire fuel equipment. Traditionally, publicly-owned airports have been dependent on federal AIP (Airport Improvement Program) and state funding to purchase fuel tanks and fuel stations. Tighter budgets at all levels of government make this difficult these days. The AEF's Paul Hagner, who has 20 years of experience working with the petroleum equipment industry, is happy to describes his company's unique offerings to airports, FBOs, flight schools and other aviation businesses. AFC AT TRIPLE TREE FLY-IN
The Triple Tree Aerodrome Fly-In , scheduled for 7-11 September in Woodruff, SC, is becoming one of the more popular grassroots fly-ins in the Southeast. With 250-350 aircraft expected to land on the airfield's 7,000' grass runway this coming weekend, the Fly-In is sure to attract members of the Aviation Fuel Club. Kent Misegades, AFC director, will be on hand in the exhibitor area. He'll also repeat his presentation from AirVenture 2011 on Saturday.

GlobalAir FUel Price App
GlobalAIr.com, a popular online resource for pilots, has announced a useful app to help pilots find low cost aviation fuel providers. As described on the Apple App Store, FBO Fuel Prices by GlobalAir.com is "a fast and efficient way to find the best fuel prices in a given area. Can be used In-flight or Airplane Mode. Made for both iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch." Unfortunately, the app does not provide autogas suppliers (yet), a major flaw in the current edition.
